1963 BMW R100RS/2 & Bender Sidecar
VIN# 656452; TMU; Vermont Bill of Sale Only From the seller… Built as a R69s/2, the original power train was completely replaced with a powertrain from a 1981 R100RS. This includes the motor (600cc to 1000cc, 42hp to 70hp), the transmission (five speed instead of four), and the brakes (instead of two drums which were marginal on a good day, there now are two front discs and a single rear disc). To get the power to the rear wheels, the RS drive shaft with a reinforced swing arm and final drive are installed as well. Electric start replaces the side kick starter. It is painted in Dover White with hand painted pinstripes. The sidecar is made by Bender, a Danish company. From my research I believe they went out of business in 1957. It includes a windshield as well as a tonneau cover. This tug/rig combination has been sorted out over a couple of thousand miles and rides great. Mods to the bike to support the sidecar include a steering damper, sidecar duty springs and flat sidecar tires.
